If the earth could sing, its voice was ringing melodiously during the Labor day weekend in interior Alaska. Autumn is that fleeting season which peaks at various times based on altitude, but generally between August 23 and Sept 15 reveal the strongest colors. It’s a particularly good time of the year to photograph for a number of reasons. Of course the colors are dramatic, but additionally, the fur bearing mammals have new coats in preparation for the winter and the sunrise and sunset times and locations offer ideal angles for light and shadow detail. These frames were taken in the Alaska Range.
